Highlands Irrigation is now celebrating
30 years of business! Thanks to the tremendous support of
the Agricultural Community, we have grown significantly. We
now supply most of the Ranching areas in the province of British
Columbia with Irrigation.
When we started Handlines and Wheel Lines
were quickly replacing ditch irrigation. By the late 70s Hose
Reels and Center Pivots were becoming popular.
These four products have remained our specialty.
It has also been our role to supply Pump Systems.
This product requires detailed attention to the correct selection
for the most efficient economic system. Pump selection continues
to be our biggest challenge and our source of satisfaction.
We have built individual systems ranging from 1/2 horsepower
to many hundreds of horsepower.
We believe in offering advice with no obligation which gives
us an opportunity to share with our customers in their development
aspirations. This has always been 'fun work' which, when completed
gives both our customers and our crew tremendous satisfaction.
Looking ahead, for the short term we acknowledge the extremely
challenging adjustments that our customers need to make. Besides
the cattle market, the threat of low water reservoirs is the
other important concern. With that in mind, we advise you
to prepare for an early start to your irrigation systems.
Ensure that soil moisture is replenished early be preparing
your system through the winter.
For the long term, we would like to continue to help you
evaluate the alternatives to create more efficient and labour
saving systems. Please contact us to arrange a visit.
Last year we introduced the Mini Pivot System and
expect that to be a growing trend. We continue to install
the full size pivot throughout BC from Vanderhoof to the US
border.
Our Irrifrance Hose Reels have been delivered north
to Grand Prairie, south to the lower mainland and into the
South Okanagan. The computer control function which offers
a pre-determined completion time has been very well accepted
by our customers and will become the system of preference.
We are pleased to welcome Collin Sandager to our staff. Collin
will reside in Kelowna and represent our southern region from
there. He has his B.Sc.Ag with a major in Environmental Science.
His farming background gives him a good understanding of the
challenges our customers have. We are proud to be represented
by such a well-educated and well-experienced staff.
Donna and I thank you for your business ... many of you for
the past 30 years. Please watch for your invitation to HIGHLAND'S
HOEDOWN in the spring. We look forward to having you join
our 30th Celebration.
All of us at Highlands look forward to helping you in the
future and welcome your calls.
